BES Garden Camp

BES-Garden-Camp poster

We’re so excited to have your child participate in virtual Garden Camp this summer! While we’re sorry we can’t be together in the school garden, we’re excited to let students focus on cultivating and cooking in their own spaces while staying connected to their friends and their school.

Here’s the deal: every Tuesday morning, we’ll send a Zoom invitation to the email address you provided. The morning schedule is:

9-9:30: Grades 1-4 Garden Share with Anna and Justine

9:30-9:50: Storytime with Mr. Maynard (a read-aloud geared towards Grades 1-4, though all students are welcome)

10-10:30: Grades 5-8 Garden Share with Anna and Justine

Each week we will share what’s happening in the school garden and your kids will share what is happening in their gardens and kitchens!  It would help if you got a sense of how far your internet reaches ahead of time – is it possible for them to show us your outdoor spaces while standing within wifi range? That would be a great thing to test out today. Don’t hesitate to reach about with technology & internet questions!

Our Garden Shares will focus on social connection by way of shared garden and kitchen pursuits – while we won’t be having traditional lessons, we are committed to learning together this summer. In that regard, we’ll expect kids to stay focused, engaged, and respectful during Zoom shares.

On Wednesday mornings from 9 am to noon, Justine will be at the BES Garden for you to pick up supplies for gardening and cooking activities to do at home – this is as much a part of Garden Camp as the virtual Tuesday gatherings. Please be in touch if Wednesday morning pickup does not work for you, and we will arrange something else!
